Google Chrome Security Update 2022 is now available on the internet in response to a zero-day attack.

Google Chrome Security Update 2022

Google unexpectedly released a new Chrome security update in 2022 after receiving a large number of bug reports regarding the dangerous zero-day threat, which may take control of your systems and execute arbitrary code via remote attackers.

We strongly advise you to update your Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers to the most recent versions, (99.0.4844.84 for Chrome and 99.0.1150.553 for Microsoft Edge). Otherwise, attackers may get access to your systems.

Why is a Google Chrome security update necessary?

Google Chrome, the world's most popular browser, has warned users to update to the latest version due to a significant number of reports and problem concerns.

Google Chrome received a new security patch update on March 15. Google blogged about the patch changes, which required users to upgrade to the current version of 99.0.4844.84. This update addresses 11 security vulnerabilities in the Windows, Mac, and LINUX operating systems. Furthermore, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) addressed the bug problem and issued a high-security alert to Google Chrome users.

According to Google Chrome,

Users of Google Chrome prior to 99.0.4844.84 are vulnerable to remote attackers who might execute arbitrary code on your targeted system.

The Microsoft Edge browser, on the other hand, is aware of the problem and is working to resolve it. They advised its customers to update their Microsoft Edge browser to the most recent version (99.0.1150.55 version)

What caused Google Chrome security vulnerabilities?

This vulnerability occurred as a result of an issue in the V8 JavaScript engine, which is available in Google Chrome. Remote attackers may give you a crafted false webpage, run arbitrary code, or even gain complete control of your machine.

The failure of the V8 JavaScript engine allows remote attackers to execute any instructions or code of their choosing on the victim's computer. This type of malware is sometimes referred to as an arbitrary code execution exploit. It is not a new vulnerability or attack, since it was discovered in various important programs and operating systems in 2018, including Windows 10 and 7 Zip file archiver. To prevent your browser or software has regained control of remote attackers, you must upgrade your systems to the most recent version, which includes patches updates, and enhancements.

What is zero-day vulnerability?

According to Wikipedia,

A zero-day attack is a computer software vulnerability that allows remote hackers to execute, affect your program, data, and other computer networks.

To have a clear concept, you must realize that it is a problem that happened as a result of the release of a new software patch update and that the developer might cure it by upgrading the patch or correcting it within a few days.

The most recent zero-day attack has become a severe threat since the attacker is still unknown and it is extremely tough to protect against them; however, if the developers properly identify the vulnerabilities and deliver fresh patches updates, the threat will not be available anymore.
